Turkey Cupcakes, Anyone?

This picture just makes me smile.  Nursery School was so much fun - possibly just as much fun for me as it was for Cristian!  Again, I'm thinking the idea came from Family Fun Magazine.

As I mentioned before, it's a good magazine if you have kids.  I started getting it when Cristian was a toddler and he's now 8 years old and I still get it.  It has recipes, crafts, good information for places to take a family vacation and a whole lot more.

These cupcakes were pretty easy to make if my memory serves me correctly.  The heads are Nutter Butter Cookies, and the tail feathers are Fruit Roll Ups, and the face was an after thought.  I think the original called for decorator gel or icing to finish the face, but I liked the M&M's for the eyes.

I really miss those days of homemade snacks.  Our school district doesn't allow anything homemade - everything has to be store bought.  Such a shame.  My generation grew up with homemade party food at school and we turned out OK.  Hey, I understand it's a different world we live in today but.....OK, don't even get me started on that topic!

Anyway, putting this post together got me motivated to bake so I'm off to make cookies with Cristian!  Chat with you soon.

Friday Night Game Night

Hello!  It's Friday Night Game Night!!  Unfortunately, our close friends won't be able to come tonight - BUMMER!    But we are still going to play some games anyway.  Our son has been wanting to learn how to play Mexican Train dominoes.  I think tonight might be a good night to teach him since it will only be the 3 of us.  Do any of you have family game night?  We have a blast.  We usually have dinner of some sort followed by dessert (what's dinner without dessert - right?) and then it's on to the games.

How about those eyeglass pendants - super unique, huh?  If you haven't had a chance to check out the link here's a pic to stir your curiosity - I think these are very different and would make an awesome gift for a teacher!  If I remember correctly the lens was also made into a pin!  It is Super CUTE!   In My Own Style is creatively responsible for making this fabulous necklace.  Check it Out!

Did you notice the fish at the bottom of my blog?  I just LOVE those little fish.  It reminds me of the lake that we spend alot of time at during the summer.  There is a marina that has a place to feed the fish and it is one of my sons favorite things to do!  So when I saw them as a gadget I just knew I had to have them.  Cute!

Ok - that's it for today.  Talk to you later!

How Cool Is This????

Hi! I'm back again with something that I think is really cool.  I just have to share this with you all today!!

Have you ever wondered what to do with your old eyeglasses?  Well, wonder no more. Why not make unique jewelry with them?  I so wish I had thought of this!

I came across it at Ucreate (http://www.u-createcrafts.com/) which is one place I really love and is listed in the right sidebar. So if you are at all crafty you might find this interesting. I know I can't wait to give this a try. When I make it I'll post my photo to show you.  Go ahead - click on the link and Check it Out!!!

Patience and Persistence = SUCCESS

See you later!

Gettin' Into the Groove

Good morning everyone.  I'm looking at my blog today and can honestly say that I am pleased with the progress I've made so far.  Learning alot of stuff!  I know there is so much more to this but I'm gettin' into the groove now!

A little bit more about myself.  I am a SAHM to our son, Cristian.  We adopted him from Guatemala and brought him home when he was 7 months old.  He has brought nothing but joy to our lives.  My husband and I decided that if it were financially feasible I would stay home and so far I've been lucky enough to be able to do so.  Don't get me wrong - we've had our fair share of struggles but hey, who doesn't, right?

We waited a long time to be parents and I was excited about not only being a Mom but also at the prospect of being active in his classroom when he became of school age.  There continues my love affair with crafts and such.  I've always enjoyed making things but when it's for your child - it's truly something special.

So I'm posting today one of the first things I made when Cristian was in Nursery School.  I can't remember where the idea came from - probably Family Fun magazine (http://familyfun.go.com/) which if you have kids is a great mag.  So here you go.

The kids were having a Halloween Party and because they needed a snack I decided to make spider cakes - aren't they cute?  Mini bundt pans, any flavor of cake mix you like, buttercream icing, licorice sticks, sprinkles and decorator gel.  They were super easy to make, too!

Have a great day and we'll chat again soon.

In Over My Head?????? Maybe....

Hi everyone!  This is my very first post and I have to admit I'm a little nervous about this whole blogging thing.  But I've been admiring and following many blogs over the past few years and have finally decided to jump in head first.    As I said in my welcome,  I'm new to this process and will be muddling through so please have patience as I figure this all out.

I'm hoping to be able to show you some of  the items that I make.  My inspiration comes from having always enjoyed arts and crafts.  There are so many times I see something and think I can make that - and as it turns out I "usually" can.  But we all know that best laid plans can sometimes go astray.  I've begun projects only to find out that it wasn't as easy as it looked!  LOL!! I'm sure a lot of you can relate, too!

Anyway, I'm anxious to get started so have a great day and I'll chat with you soon.
